Work Process
Product Opportunity
The new lyric tool could do more than display words. I explored how lyrics could guide a performance or become part of a game.
Creator Need
Creators often need to memorize lyrics and repeat takes. A clear on-screen guide makes recording easier, but the effect still needs to feel fun.
Design Choice
I focused on a simple loop: choose a sound, understand the effect, perform, and get feedback.
Lyric Spit adds visual energy. Karaoke makes it easier to join.
Build and Launch
I tested readability, camera space, timing, and reuse across songs. I designed and built both effects in Effect House.
Concept Exploration
I explored two clear uses for live lyrics. Lyric Spit makes the words part of the visual effect. Karaoke helps creators sing without memorizing lyrics.
Words come out of the creator's mouth, then fall and collect on screen. The idea turns a normal lip-sync into a playful visual effect.

Lyrics appear in time with the song, so creators do not need to memorize them. The same layout can work with many tracks.

Product Selection Criteria
I compared both ideas using four simple product rules.
- 01Immediate Readability
Creators should understand the action and feedback within a few seconds.
- 02Low Creator Effort
Lyrics should reduce memorization and setup before recording.
- 03Reusable Structure
The effect must work with different songs, lyric lengths, faces, and styles.
- 04Reliable Build
The camera must stay visible, lyrics must match the audio, and the effect must run reliably.
From Concepts to Shipped Templates
Lyric Spit had the strongest visual change. Karaoke was the easiest to start using. I built and tested both before launch.

Lyric Spit — Mouth-Spitting Lyrics
Words appear from the creator's mouth as they sing or speak. The result turns a normal lip-sync into a playful visual moment.
Karaoke — Sing-Along
Lyrics appear in time with the song, so creators can sing without memorizing every line.
AI Background Generation Workflow
I used an AI workflow to explore many vertical backgrounds quickly. I then compared the results, kept the strongest options, and adjusted them to match one art direction.
Under the Hood
Both effects were built in Effect House. The setup controls text timing, movement, and sync with the song.
